A danty hanky

This July my Gammy (grandma) and Poppy (grandpa) will be celebrating they're 60th Wedding Anniversary. And let me tell ya if you met them in person you'd think they got married yesterday by the way they look at each other and treat each other. I can only hope that 60 years from now my husband and I will adore each other just as much if not more than on our wedding day!

Anywho! Gammy requested the help of her daughters and grand daughters (me) to plan their very special day. One of the things I'm in charge of is coming up with the favors. Gammy LOVES all things flowers and gardening so it's only natural that she have a garden party. I thought a pretty, flowery, danty hanky would be splendid at each place setting. (and probably plain white for the men-folk)

Take a look at these beautiful Save the Date hankies by Benign Objects featured on Style Me Pretty.....

Aren't these just gorgeous???

Here is a rendering of the invite for the Owl Baby shower. The owl will actually be an embossed stamp and the green strip behind will be a ribbon. This will all layer on top of a green, blue, cream and brown vintagey, striped paper backed with chocolate brown cardstock.

Check back for the real deal and let the assembling begin!!

The Birds and the Bees

I have the sweetest friend Jess! She is my right hand woman in party throwing and planning. She was my wedding coordinator and did a fantastic job!! She knows what to do before I ask her. The perfect side kick for this business. Jess and her husband Mark came by my house last night to bring me a gift. She handed it to me and told me she made me something. I was so excited to find out what the little trinket was that she made as I'm obsessed with crafts and homemade things! I opened the tissue paper only to find these sweet little things....

I was so confused when I opened them! And then it dawned on me! SHE'S PREGNANT!!!! I sprung out of my seat and screamed and jumped up and down and hugged them both. I am so happy for them. They are going to be thee best parents!! And she will be the cutest pregnant lady. We nicknamed the baby Bebo until we know the gender and can call it by its real name. I am already so in love with the little Bebo!! So technically, she did make a gift for me with the help of her hubby. :o)

And Oh, how I dream of the ways I will share exciting news like that with my husband and our families!  Here are some fun ideas for announcing a pregnancy: (I must say I love the Eggo waffle one!!)

.....Sitting in a tree.....

This is a bridal shower that I threw for a dear friend of mine of 13 years. She married my husband's brother in January. Imagine that! Two great friends becoming sister-in-laws! We can't believe it either. I had the honor of being her MOH so I made sure to take my job seriously and fulfill my duties to the fullest.

This shower was so much fun knowing that Melina would fall in love with all the details. She loves all things trees, particularly dead ones, so I decided to run with that. Check it out...

The invitations were designed by yours truly. The trees were embossed onto the page to add some dimension.

I think the picture wall was my favorite project. Notice the pot the flowers are in? Its covered with tree bark! Awesome steal!

Burlap was used for the table runners.
It was December so I went to the Christmas tree lot and swiped some Christmas tree clippings to go with the pine cones and tree trunk sliver centerpieces.
The favors were different sized glass jars full of olive oil and rosemary. The menu was italian so I found it fitting and super cute! NOTE: rosemary should be dried before infusing into the oil. It gets moldy otherwise, I learned the hard way.

Needless to say the bride was a happy camper and the shower was a success.

Where does the time go?

I have clearly failed at the start of my blog. Who knew married life would be busier than wedding planning life??? Oh my goodness between all the weddings we've been to to the weddings, bridal showers and then some baby showers thrown in there too we don't ever have free weekends! I can't complain though I do enjoy the time with family and friends and seeing all the fun parties! I have now been married for 7 fantastic months and have not blogged once. But I am back and I have so much to share! Great ideas that I have found, parties that I have planned and invitations that I have designed. Not to mention I'm in the middle of planning a baby shower for my sweet sister in law! So stay tuned for so many fun things to come. I hope you enjoy them.
